Following a fatal Michigan car accident in July, the driver who allegedly caused the death of a 10-year-old girl is now facing felony charges. According to court documents, the accident occurred in an intersection in Warren on July 25. Prosecutors claim that the reckless driving of the defendant caused the young girl’s death.

Reportedly, the mother and child were in a car heading home when a truck smashed into them. It is alleged that the 60-year-old driver disregarded a red traffic light and caused the collision. According to police officers who responded to the crash, there was a backhoe on the truck’s bed.

The impact of the crash allegedly caused the backhoe to fall off the truck. It landed on the passenger car, causing the death of the 10-year-old child. This led to the charges filed against the truck driver. The charges he now faces include second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter and causing death by reckless driving.

A conviction on felony charges could have severe consequences, which might include fines and incarceration. An experienced Michigan criminal defense attorney’s services are crucial to limit the damage and protect the accused person’s legal rights. After careful analysis of the charges and evidence, the attorney can establish a strategy that will endeavor to achieve the most favorable outcome for the client. It might include negotiations with the prosecutor or an aggressive defense strategy at trial to obtain positive results. Depending on the case’s details, legal counsel may work to get the charges against the client dropped or reduced, or the best option might be to pursue a not guilty verdict if the case goes to trial.
